Artist's Comments

I was inspired by another photographer here on dA (*Bavenmark), and coincedentally enough my brother also was planning on trying the smoke picture idea. It's becoming a bit freaky how much we really do think alike! This one's for you bro (*CaAffaManin). The color was naturally occuring in the smoke, no color editing on this one.

Nice job! I love the colors in the smoke. What'd you use for the back drop?

don't laugh...
Adam's jacket! Its the only thing I had that was matte. I began to use my couch but it's leather. Then I tried some paper, but it wasn't a true black. I then proceeded to hunt down a black sheet...but I had thrown it out! So I draped the jacket and used a large aperature to blur the back. In the end I really like the texture.

Thanks! I'm glad you like it! :floating:

Hey, I ain't laughing. That's good that you're just using everyday objects like that. It's what I do. It doesn't matter what you use, it's the final result that matters. :D I use all sorts of objects when setting up for a picture. Shoe boxes, card board, different lamps/lights, rolls of tape. Anything has a use.

Nice job, Sarah. Oh, and by the way, using everyday objects is probably something you inherited from your Dad. When he needed something to get a job done, he'd rig up something that would help him do the job . . . so much so, that when he was a carpenter, some of the guys he worked with gave him the nickname "Johnny Jig". :)

That's really neat. Thanks Momma. Tony got it too apparently :D.
I guess we're Sarah and Tony Jig.
